Applications closed for the 2020 round of the Disability Innovation Institute’s Research Seed Funding Scheme

The Disability Innovation Institute (DIIU) provides seed funding for projects that strengthen inclusive and interdisciplinary research at UNSW and have significant potential to contribute to a better quality of life for people with disability.

The purpose of the Scheme is to establish or advance inclusive and interdisciplinary research between UNSW academic researchers, people with disability, government, industry, and community. It is expected that funded projects will result in an application for external funding, and at least one publication.

Seed funding of up to $30,000 is available to support research within one or more of the DIIU’s key themes:
a) Technology Innovation
b) Policy and Regulatory Frameworks
c) Environment and Infrastructure
d) Health and Wellbeing
e) Inclusive Tertiary Education.

Key dates:

  • Applications open: 3rd September 2019
  • Close of applications: 31st October 2019 (5pm)
  • Notification to applicants: 1st December 2019
  • Projects to commence: January 2020
  • Mid-year report: 31st July 2020
  • Presentation at DIIU Seed Funding Showcase: September 2020
  • End-year report: 15th December 2020
  • Final report due: 30th June 2021
