Showcase of inclusive and interdisciplinary research

The Disability Innovation Institute at UNSW Sydney (DIIU) hosted a Research Showcasing event on 2nd September 2019.

The aim of the showcase was to:

  • Profile the research work of the successful recipients of the 2019 DIIU SEED funding scheme;
  • Reflect on the lessons learned about inclusive and interdisciplinary research;
  • Learn about inclusive research from the perspective of representatives from disabled people’s organisations (NSW Council for Intellectual Disability, People with Disability Australia, and First Peoples Disability Network);
  • Provide a mentoring opportunity on inclusive research for researchers from UNSW Sydney, other universities, and the wider community.

The event was well received and highly appreciated by the 60 attendees, as well as the presenters, which included representatives from all seven of the successful recipients of the 2019 DIIU SEED funding scheme, and the representatives of three disabled people’s organisations.
